BRIEF HISTORY: Beautifully crafted by an A&P mechanic and certified in 2009, the builder’s health failed and he passed away at age 77 in 2021 after putting barely 100 hours on the airplane. The plane was purchased by a non-tailwheel qualified pilot who, after several lessons, decided the airplane was not for him. It was then purchased by the current owner who found that his age has created issues and subsequently has put the aircraft up for sale. The plane spent most of its life in Virginia and Minnesota, arriving in Florida less than a year ago. This is a very nice aircraft and well worth the price.
PILOT REPORT: Here are comments by the experienced ferry pilot who flew it down from Minnesota. He is an experienced Pitts Special pilot and aircraft mechanic. –
“Over all, it is a good, nice flying airplane.”
“Starts easily and runs smooth.”
“It is pitch sensitive so keeping it trimmed properly is advised.”
“Good visibility.”
“Like other Mustang IIs, it will drop a wing if too slow on landing.”
“Requires a competent tailwheel pilot.”
“Halfway between a Champ and a Pitts.”
“A tight fit for anyone over 6’2″ tall.”
“An enjoyable airplane to fly.”
