My father, Vernon Drake was always sketching. He left a legacy of wonderful pencil drawings and watercolors. He grew up on a dry-land farm in the hills on the south side of the Yellowstone River in Billings, Montana. From ranchhand to WWII bomber pilot, to successful architect, Vernon captured it all in his art.

Some of Vernon’s watercolor paintings are presented here for your enjoyment. The book Across The Yellowstone contains dozens of his sketches along with stories from his youth.
